Terms of Use

Effective April 17, 2026

Agreement

By downloading, installing, or using StateShift ("the app"), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

Not medical advice

StateShift is a self-reflection and self-regulation tool. It is not a medical device, and nothing in the app is intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or mental health condition. The content, prompts, and exercises are offered for general informational and educational purposes only.

StateShift is not a substitute for professional mental health care, therapy, counseling, medication, or emergency services. If you are in crisis, experiencing suicidal thoughts, or in a medical emergency, please contact local emergency services or a crisis line immediately. In the US, you can dial or text 988. Always consult a qualified professional for individual medical or psychological advice.

Your use of the app

You agree to use the app only for lawful, personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except to the extent that such restrictions are prohibited by applicable law.

Content ownership

StateShift and all of its content — including text, design, and underlying frameworks — are owned by the makers of StateShift and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Your own reflections and entries belong to you; we don't see them, store them, or claim any rights over them.

Availability

We may update, change, or discontinue the app or any feature at any time. We will try to give reasonable notice for material changes, but we are not obligated to continue offering the app indefinitely.

Disclaimer of warranties

The app is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or meet your expectations.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the makers of StateShift shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of data or emotional distress — arising from your use of or inability to use the app. Our total liability under these terms is limited to the amount you paid us for the app (which, for the free tier, is zero).

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the effective date above. Material changes will be highlighted. Continued use of the app after changes take effect means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the state and country in which the makers of StateShift are based, without regard to conflict of laws principles.
